A new infatuation. A secret escape. The seductive scent of desire. Victoria Beckham evokes the enrapturing fragrance of bourgeoning romance through the memory of Portofino ’97: A euphoric hit of calabrian bergamot and black pepper; crisp white sheets suffused with incense and amber; patchouli and vetiver lingering on the skin of a significant other.

Portofino ’97 is the rush of a bourgeoning romance: the adrenaline, the flirtation, the infatuation. It's the thrill of a secret escape — an ode to the early rendezvous of Victoria and David to the Italian seaside — all bottled up. A tease of the fresh sea breeze is clouded with incense and amber, a lingering trace of patchouli, musk and vetiver punctuate the desire.

Each fragrance is bottled in a flacon inspired by a vintage parfum bottle Victoria collected while traveling. The blue enamel of the Portofino ’97 bottle is reminiscent of the blue waters of the Ligurian Sea.

Created in collaboration with the master parfumier Jérôme Épinette, the genderless artisanal fragrances are instinctively crafted to embody the essence of Victoria's fashion and beauty brand.

I wore this on a warm evening and couldn't stop catching whiffs of that amber-vetiver drydown—it lingers for hours without being loud. The bergamot opening is there but it settles into something much more intimate and woody, perfect for a dinner date.

The bergamot hits bright and fresh at first spray, then settles into that warm amber-vetiver dry down that lingers on my scarf for days. It’s the kind of scent that makes me feel like I’m sneaking off somewhere secret, even if it’s just to the grocery store.

It’s been two weeks and I still catch whiffs of the bergamot and vetiver when I move—the dry-down is gorgeous and somehow both clean and warm. The amber really carries it through the evening without ever feeling heavy.
